LABIOMISTA is een 24 hectare groot, evoluerend kunstwerk van kunstenaar Koen Vanmechelen, waarin kunst, natuur en architectuur samenkomen.Met ruimte voor dieren en kunst, wildernis en verwondering, is LABIOMISTA een ode aan creativiteit en ontdekking. Gebouwd op de fundering van het mijnverleden, nodigt LABIOMISTA je uit om na te denken over onze huidige samenleving en die van de toekomst. Een geloof in kunst als zuurstof voor het leven en een pleidooi voor diversiteit als basis voor evolutie.Volg het pad door een openluchtexpositie met tal van Vanmechelens (levende) kunstwerken en installaties. Onderweg passeer je ‘The Ark’, het onthaalgebouw, en ‘The Battery’ zijn studio, beide ontworpen door Zwitserse architect Mario Botta. LABIOMISTA is een kunstwerk in voortdurende evolutie. In 2024 opende een indrukwekkend tapircomplex, en met het centrale thema ‘Wild Gene’ ligt dit jaar de focus op de kracht van het ontembare.In de buurt kan je kennismaken met de community projecten zoals Mixed Menu Wallpaper en Nomadland. @nl |

Built on the foundations of its mining past, LABIOMISTA invites you to reflect on our current society and that of the future. A belief in art as the oxygen of life and a plea for diversity as the basis for evolution.Follow the path through an open-air exhibition with numerous Vanmechelens (living) works of art and installations. Along the way, you will pass “The Ark”, the reception building, and “The Battery”, his studio, both designed by Swiss architect Mario Botta. LABIOMISTA is a work of art in constant evolution.
