“Free Fatherland” does not focus on the battlefield of the Great War, but rather on the last piece of unoccupied Belgium, the so-called Belgian Sector from which King Albert I held his own against the German invader. You experience the story behind the front, the everyday life in this unoccupied area. You see a veritable melting-pot of people, multiculturalism before the term existed.
