| The Gruut city brewery is located in Ghent city centre and is a special brewery because they do not use hops, but a mix of herbs called 'gruyt' or 'gruut' as an ingredient. Annick De Splenter opened the Gruut urban brewery in 2009. She was immersed in the wonderful world of fermentation and beer at a very young age. A love of brewing is obviously in her DNA because she has both maternal and paternal family members who are active in the brewing world. She now combines modern brewing technology with a centuries-old tradition. | |
| Stadsbrouwerij Gruut ligt in het centrum van Gent. Ze is bijzonder omdat er geen hop wordt gebruikt, maar 'gruyt' of 'gruut', een kruidenmengsel. De brouwerij werd door Annick De Splenter in 2009 opgericht. Van jongs af aan werd ze ingewijd in de wondere wereld van gisting en bier. De liefde voor het brouwen zit duidelijk in de genen, want zowel langs moeders- als langs vaderszijde was men actief in de brouwerijwereld. Vandaag combineert ze moderne technologie met eeuwenoude traditie. |
