| Het modemuseum bevindt zich in het hart van de Antwerpse modescène, in een prachtig gerenoveerd gebouw: de ModeNatie. Ook het Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI), de befaamde modeafdeling van de Hogeschool Antwerpen, de Kunst- en Architectuurbookshop Copyright en de Brasserie National hier onderdak. De basis van de MoMu-collectie werd geërfd van het vroegere Textiel- en Kostuummuseum Vrieselhof en bestaat uit een boeiende en samenhangende collectie. De hedendaagse Belgische ontwerpers vormen een ietwat apart hoofdstuk, dat nog maar recent aan de collectie werd toegevoegd. Het MoMu voert een dynamisch tentoonstellingsbeleid met twee grote thematentoonstellingen per jaar, telkens gekoppeld aan een uitgebreid randprogramma, workshops, rondleidingen, lezingen ... De goed gevulde activiteitenkalender lokt jong en oud voor een bezoekje aan deze collectieve kleerkast van onze samenleving, waarin 5 eeuwen herinneringen worden bewaard, zowel van de hoge burgerij als van het gewone volk. | |
| The new fashion museum or MoMu is located in the heart of Antwerp's fashion scene, in a beautiful renovated building: Besides the moMu it also houses the Flanders Fashion Institute (FFI), the famous fashion department of the Hogeschool Antwerpen, the Art and Architecture Bookshop Copyright and the Brasserie National. The MoMu collection consists largely of an inheritance from the former Textile and Costume Museum Vrieselhof and is a very diverse collection of clothing, fashion, lace, embroidery, fabrics and tools for artisanal textile processing. The oldest pieces date back to the 16th century, and MoMu complements the collection with contemporary works by Belgian designers. The MoMu also has a dynamic exhibition policy with two large thematic exhibitions per year, linked to lots of extra activities, workshops, tours, lectures and debates. With the many activities on the calendar they want to appeal to young and old for a visit to this collective wardrobe of our society. |
