| This most diverse of all the Bruges Museums, with a collection of applied art or decorating art, is situated in the 15th-century palace of the lords of 'Gruuthuse'. Besides a collection of sculptures and magnificent Bruges tapestry and furniture, silver ware, copper, tin, coins and medallions, ceramics and musical instruments are also on display. In the armoury the notorious 18th century guillotine is on display. The interesting interior breathes a special atmosphere. Especially in the large kitchen and in the authentic medieval chapel, built in 1472, visitors imagine themselves in the late Middle Ages. | |
| Ondergebracht in het 15de-eeuwse paleis van de Heren van Gruuthuse, bezit dit museum ongetwijfeld de meest gevarieerde verzameling toegepaste kunst of sierkunst uit de 15de tot 18de eeuw die Brugge rijk is. Men treft er, naast een grote collectie beelden, prachtige Brugse wandtapijten en meubels, ook zilverwerk, koper, tin, munten en medailles, keramiek en muziekinstrumenten aan. In de wapenzaal staat de beruchte 18de-eeuwse guillotine. Het interessante interieur ademt een speciale sfeer uit. Vooral in de grote keuken en in de authentieke middeleeuwse bidkapel, gebouwd in 1472, waant de bezoeker zich in de late Middeleeuwen. |
