The modern youth hostel “De Zandpoort” is located in the outskirts of Mechelen. It is ten minutes from the historic centre and the traffic-free shopping streets of this Flemish art city. The youth hostel has an impressive architecture, modern and comfortable rooms, and a nice inner garden, a lovely place to be. Mechelen is a fascinating and pleasant city, with a rich past, with a lot of world heritage, protected by the Unesco. Climb the Sint-Rombouts tower to find out! Or have an endless shopping spree or enjoy a local terrace. It owes its most child friendly title to Technopolis, Planckendael, the Toy Museum and the Sportimonium (to name a few).
