Meet the Flemish fisherman’s family, the heroic Icelandic seamen, and the shrimp fishers on horseback - a unique, living tradition in Oostduinkerke. The rich museum collection unites the heritage, art, artisanal crafts and nature of the North Sea. The NAVIGO - National Fisheries Museum creates a dynamic climate for Flemish maritime heritage. A rich museum collection presented in life-like scenes, a fisherman’s cottage, a fisherman’s café and a memorial park put you at the helm of this museum. With its interactive approach, varied exhibitions and focus on the history, the present day and the future of North Sea fishing, the museum shows and strengthens the unique connection between mankind and the sea. The high level of the museum’s interactive experience is mainly due to the various hands-on elements. The inshore fishing vessel OD.1 "Martha", and the underwater world with the North Sea aquaria below it, complete the picture. | Het NAVIGO -museum nodigt u uit op een historische wandeling door de Vlaamse zee- en kustvisserij. Maak kennis met de Vlaamse vissersfamilie, de heroïsche IJ slandvaarders en de garnaalvissers te paard, een unieke levende traditie in Oostduinkerke. De rijke museumcollectie verenigt erfgoed, kunst, ambacht en natuur van de Noordzee. Het NAVIGO - Nationaal Visserijmuseum schept een dynamisch klimaat voor maritiem erfgoed in Vlaanderen. Met een rijke museumverzameling voorgesteld in levensechte decors, een vissershuisje, een visserscafé en een erepark staat u aan het roer van dit museum. Door een interactieve opstelling, gevarieerde tentoonstellingen en aandacht voor geschiedenis, heden en toekomst van de visserij in de Noordzee, toont en verdiept het museum de unieke banden die bestaan tussen mens en zee. Diverse doe-elementen dragen in belangrijke mate bij tot een grote belevingswaarde van het museum. Het kustvissersvaartuig OD .1 “Martha” met daaronder de onderwaterwereld met de Noordzeeaquariums vervolledigen het geheel. Het museum beheert een bijzondere collectie van een internationaal niveau en is tegelijkertijd een gastvrije ontmoetingsruimte voor jong en oud. |
