| Het Arboretum Kalmthout is een bijzondere bomentuin waar de oudste planten meer dan 150 jaar geleden aangeplant werden. De plantencollectie bezit internationale bekendheid. De tuin bevat veel unieke exemplaren. Van sommige is het aantal dat op de hele wereld nog overblijft op één hand te tellen! Het is een collectie met voornamelijk sierplanten en -bomen: veel bloemen, bladvormen, kleuren, enz. geplant in esthetische arrangementen. Op het 12 ha grote domein vindt u honderden rozen, meer dan 600 verschillende azalea's en rododendrons, magnolia's, kerselaars, Japanse esdoorns, hosta's en nog veel meer. Het Vangeertenhof, de oorspronkelijke parkvilla uit 1885, is gerenoveerd en wordt gebruikt voor tentoonstellingen en andere activiteiten. De toverhazelaars van Arboretum Kalmthout zijn wereldberoemd. In januari en februari vinden de Hamamelisfeesten plaats om de unieke winterbloei van de oude en breed uitgegroeide toverhazelaars te vieren. | |
| The Arboretum in Kalmthout is a special tree garden where the oldest plants were planted more than 150 years ago. The plant collection enjoys international fame. The garden contains lots of unique plants. For some plants, the number of specimens in the entire world can be counted on one hand! It is a collection consisting mainly of ornamental plants and trees: lots of flowers, leaf shapes, colours, etc. planted in aesthetic arrangements. On the 12 ha large domain you will find hundreds of roses, more than 600 different azaleas and rhododendrons, magnolias, cherry trees, Japanese maples, hostas and lots more. The Vangeerten garden, the original park mansion from 1885, has been renovated and is used for exhibitions and other activities. The witch hazels from the Arboretum Kalmthout are world famous. In January and February the Hamamelis festival takes place to celebrate the unique winter bloom of the old and wide-growing witch hazels. |
