| “Vrij Vaderland” does not focus on the battlefields of the Great War, but on the last piece of unoccupied Belgium, the so-called Belgian Sector from which King Albert I held out against the German occupier. The atmospheric exhibition highlights themes such as care, education and justice via modern media and traditional elements. In the same building there is the A+ labelled and thus comfortably accessible tourist info office and visitors’ centre of Veurne. | |
| “Vrij Vaderland” focust niet op het slagveld van de Groote Oorlog, maar op het laatste stukje onbezet België, de zogenaamde Belgische Sector van waaruit Koning Albert I stand hield tegen de Duitse bezetter. Je beleeft het verhaal achter het front, het dagelijkse leven in dit onbezet gebied. Je ziet een ware smeltkroes van mensen, multiculturaliteit avant la lettre. De sfeervolle expo belicht thema’s als verzorging, onderwijs en rechtspraak via moderne media en traditionele elementen. In hetzelfde gebouw bevindt zich het met A+ gelabelde en dus comfortabel toegankelijke toeristische infokantoor en bezoekerscentrum van Veurne. | |
